How to buy gold in Singapore
Where to buy gold in Singapore, what to compare before you pay, and how to avoid overpaying on small bars and coins.
Decide what you are buying it for
If you want exposure to the gold price, look for the lowest total cost over spot: larger bars and common coins usually win. If you want a gift or a collectible, you are paying for design and scarcity, and the numbers in this guide matter less.
Compare three numbers, not one
The sell price tells you what you pay today. The premium over spot tells you how much of that is metal and how much is the cost of making and selling it. The spread tells you what you lose if you sell the same item straight back.
A dealer with a slightly higher sell price and a much better buy-back can be the cheaper choice over a full round trip.
Check availability before you travel
Some dealers keep listing sold-out items at their last price, and some do not publish stock at all. Treat a price as real once the dealer confirms it can sell you the item, and check how long a quote holds.
Keep your paperwork
Keep the invoice, and keep any assay card or capsule intact. Dealers can pay less for items that have been opened, damaged or cannot be verified.
